Some of the best airs ever witnessed in competitive surfing came from both Felipe and Italo. In the end Felipe edged the rookie for his 3rd WSL victory in 2015.

There wasn’t really any surprises in the quarter finals. The higher seeds picked the right waves and were rewarded with bigger scores.
Heat 1 Felipe Toldeo put on a display of past crisp surfing and defeated Joel Parkinson 16.66 to 8.90. After a restart, Felipe got busy and never looked back.
Heat 2 was similar as Adriano Desouza picked the right waves and beat Wiggoly Dantas 12.67 to 8.83.
Heat 3 saw Mick Fanning pick off the good set waves and beat Adrian Buchan 15.13 to 7.50.
Heat 4 had a little more controversy as an interference was called against Nat Young, when he accidentally grabbed Gabriel Medina’s leash. So one of Nat’s waves was only scored at 50%, making a victory nearly impossible. Medina beat Young 11.34 to 9.44.
